Farming
Farm plots in the client are berry plots and wheat plots. Each plot is empty, planted, growing, or ready. Tending needs an equipped hoe, and carrying compost changes that prompt to fertilize. Figures below are quoted from client Help, not timed by this wiki.
The farming script says it is presentation only: costs, deadlines, and rewards belong to the server. Plot structure ids in that script are berry_plot and wheat_plot. A hoe is an equipped tool whose id ends in _hoe. This page does not list hoe names. The Frontier bulletin said “Hoes in every metal,” and Help says smiths forge hoe heads at a forge.
Stages
| Stage | What the client does |
|---|---|
| empty | No crop. The prompt starts with Plant. |
| planted | A crop is in the ground and has not reached the growing time. |
| growing | The growing time has passed and the ready time has not. |
| ready | The ready time has passed. The prompt starts with Harvest. |
If the crop still needs care and you have a hoe equipped, the prompt says Tend, unless you are carrying compost, in which case it says Fertilize. The script comments that the server spends carried compost on the next tend. After care, the label becomes Tended or Fertilized.
What Help states
The in-game Help topic Farming says to press F at your plot to plant. It says berries grow in 10 minutes and wheat in 15, even while you are offline. It says tending with a hoe is for 50% more produce, and fertilizing with compost is for double produce, ready sooner. It says to press F again when the crop is ripe, and that a ready crop waits until you have room for the whole harvest. It also says removing a plot destroys its crop.
Those sentences are the Help text. They are not a stopwatch reading from this wiki. If Help and the server ever disagree, the server line in the farming script is the one that says deadlines are not stored in the page script.
Help also says bread, meat pie, and berry tart are baked at a campfire, and that the Frontier list named meat pies and berry tarts. Those dishes are on Food, and the campfire recipes are on Recipes.
Berry plots and wheat plots are on Buildings. Seeds are crafted items in the recipe list. The field-guide wording is still on Crafting.
